Camp KSC Scholarships
for Girls

SWE Space Coast Section is sponsoring 10 (or more) tuition scholarships to attend Camp KSC during the summer to encourage girls to continue to pursue math and science, as well as consider engineering or computer science as a career. 

50% of the scholarships will be need based (100% tuition)

 50% will be achievement based (50% tuition)**
Option to pay for additional registration fee & extras

Who is Eligible? 3rd thru 8th grade girls who reside in or go to school in Indian River, Brevard or Volusia Counties may apply.

Applications are due to SWE no later than March 30, 2010. 

Recipients will be notified no later than April 25.

Achievement Based Scholarships:
    You must provide one of the following:
       -- A letter from a teacher, counselor or principal that you are in a Gifted Program
       -- or a copy of your most recent report card
       -- or a copy of your most recent achievement scores.

Need Based Scholarships:
    You must provide one of the following:
      -- A letter from teacher, counselor or principal stating that you are eligible for or       receiving free lunch at your school
       -- or a letter from your teacher or principal stating that you are in an at-risk situation.

Everyone must submit an essay on one of the following questions (300 words or less):

A.  If you could talk with an astronaut (past or present), with whom would you talk, what would you ask and why?
B.  If humans had never gone into space, what would the Earth be like today?

Scholarships will include Camp KSC provided transportation when available.

Camp KSC provides bus transportation from designated locations at least one week during the summer for South Brevard, North Brevard and Central Brevard.  Campers selecting other than the designated weeks will be responsible for their own transportation.  Parents are responsible for providing transportation to the designated pickup points.

Specific dates for the Camp KSC will be arranged after selection of recipients.  Before and after camp care is available.

Girls who have previously received a scholarship from SWE for Camp KSC are not eligible.

**Please note this has changed since last year, girls will still be responsible for paying

50% of tuition costs.
